Banana Ice Cream

I came across this recipe recently and thought it was too good not to share. I've been trying to come up with healthier alternatives to delicious foods. What is more delicious than ice cream on a hot summer day? The calories and fat grams are no fun though.
To make banana ice cream, you need ... bananas. That's it, very ripe bananas.
Here's the official recipe:

*Cut up very ripe bananas and freeze them for a few hours.

*Put the frozen bananas in a food processor or blender. Blend until they are a creamy consistency.

*Enjoy!

You could also add toppings to make it more fun. Mini chocolate chips and chopped walnuts turn it into a pretty good Chunky Monkey knock off. My kids just enjoyed it scooped into ice cream cones.

If you make a large batch, you can put the rest in a freezer safe container and scoop it out anytime you are in need of a cool treat!

Healthy, tasty - what's not to love?
